But did you know that when you don't plan what you should eat and the right portions, even healthy eating will not make you lose weight?... <i>This was my Geico moment</i>.<br />

So I said in my head that I would do a detox last week, or more like a detox would be a good idea but I didn't make any concrete plans so that detox didn't happen. <br />
<br />
My diet didn't change either and I didn't make any meal preps. I thought with the screen free week we had a couple of weeks ago, I would be able to take time out to make a plan, but I was dog tired at the end of everyday that week, that didn't happen. We were trying to reduce screen time in our household while connecting more with one another, and it was a bit hard the first few days but we survived it.<br />

I have decided to do updates every 2 weeks, so I don't feel pressured.<br />

I am finally getting to the detox this week , starting tomorrow.<br />

I am cutting out sugar and salt from my meals for the rest of the week.<br />
<br />
I will eat only the following foods, prepared which ever way I like<br />

Fruits: Apples, Grapefruits, Strawberries<br />
<br />
Vegetables: Bell peppers, Broccoli, Cucumbers, Cabbage, Lettuce, Green beans, Tomatoes, Spinach, Avocados, Brussels sprouts, Okra, Onions<br />
<br />
Oils: Low fat dressing, Olive oil<br />
<br />
Nuts: Almonds, Peanuts<br />
<br />
I chose these foods because I didn't want to add anything that I don't like to eat, or anything new I want to try, this is no the time.<br />

I have been pretty consistent with my exercise and I intend to keep using<a href="http://naijafatbusters.blogspot.com/2015/10/begin-again-week-1-phase-2.html"> this</a> for this week and after the detox I will switch it up a bit.<br />

I don't have a meal plan either.<br />

Everyone knows for fat loss/ weight loss, nutrition is 80 % of the work. So far I have just been eating my regular foods. I had rice on Sunday and today I had spaghetti. The only change I have been able to apply to my nutrition is having a serving of vegetables with my meals and I also make sure I drink at least 3 cups of water everyday. I am giving myself a hall pass this week. I hope to take some time out this before the week runs out to make a meal plan.<br />

Or maybe I should try a detox first before coming up with a meal plan. <i>*thinking*</i><br />

On my exercise plan, I am on it and I can say that it hasn't been easy. Yesterday I thought my knees were going to give up after my squats. I was thinking to myself, that I was too ambitious with the number of repetitions. I had to take a break and then completed the rest in the evening.<br />

I haven't been here in a longggg time. Lets keep the blog alive.<br />

I have been exercising consistently since November 2014 till date and it has definitely been worth it. I have also been off bad carbs (rice and co) and have been eating pretty healthy.<br />
<br />
I work out in the morning and at night. I run 4km every morning which takes me about 30 minutes and I run the stairs too for about 30 minutes. Running or walking up the stairs burns a lot of calories. I downloaded an app called endomondo which I use to measure my performance.<br />
<br />
My first weigh in on this blog was in June or July 2014 where I weighed 73.7kg, now I weigh 68.4kg and I am aiming to lose about 8kg. It really feels good to see results and I have promised myself to never look back, as a a matter of fact, my greatest fear is gaining all the weight I have lost.<br />
<br />
I will keep updating and I would love to read from y'all.<br />

I have decided to be consistent with my exercise one again. I have been exercising indoors through the help of fitness blender on Youtube. You can try it and trust me, its as vigorous as outdoor exercises.<br />

I am focusing on my arms, thighs and belly so i do a lot of weight lifting, squats, cardio and pilates.<br />
<br />

I got pregnant same month I got married and officially threw exercising and clean eating out of the window. I ate moderately but had ANYTHING i wanted...carbs, fats, anything. I gained a total of 6.5kg throughout the 9 months of pregnancy which i really applaud myself on. I didn't have to buy maternity clothes and went to work till the day of delivery.<br />

However i've had my baby now (11 weeks old) and the weight isn't coming off. I was told exclusive breastfeeding would make me lose weight immediately but na lie joh. Infact I assumed i would weigh less immediately after delivery but i was 110kg on the day of delivery and still 110kg after delivery and my son weighed 2.8kg.<br />
<br />
I took loads of tea and pap to build up my milk supply as I was exclusively breastfeeding. I'm getting ready to return to work next month and also ready to get back on the fitness programme. I can fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes but the bust region on some especially the fitted shirts are really uncomfortable. The waist and hip of the clothes are fine.<br />

I have noticed that I am quite sedentary. I sit at my desk all day long and only leave for a few minutes each day. I work out 2 - 3 times week, but I feel that since I eat a lot (hehehe), I can and should be more active. My friend's job was doing a competitive health project - each person had to walk 10, 000 steps a days and who ever was most diligent and also lost the most weight won! I walked with her one day and was surprised to see how much walking 10, 000 steps entails.<br />

I have ordered my Fitbit Zip and once it gets here, I will begin to walk 10, 000 steps.<br />

Late last year, I discovered Green Smoothies. Since then, I have even done a 3 day smoothie cleanse with great results. I have noticed an increased in energy, better sleep and improved bowel regularity (yep! it's all about the fiber!!!).<br />

1. <u>Beginner's Green Smoothie</u><br />
1 cup Spinach<br />
1 cup frozen fruit (pineapple or mango) or 1 banana (frozen)<br />
1 - 1.5 cups of Unsweetened almond milk<br />
1 teaspoon of Almond butter<br />
1 teaspoon Chia seeds<br />
1 teaspoon milled Flax seeds<br />
<br />
<b><i>Note: Eat this with two eggs for a balanced meal.</i></b><br />

2. <u>Protein Green Smoothie</u><br />
1 cups of Spinach/Kale/Swiss Chard<br />
1/4 - 1/2 cup rolled oats (Old Fashioned)<br />
1 cup frozen fruit<br />
1 - 1.5 cups Unsweetened almond milk<br />
1 serving Vanilla Protein Powder<br />
1 teaspoon Almond butter<br />
1 teaspoon chia seeds<br />
1 teaspoon milled flax seeds.<br />

<b><i>Note: I use this as a light meal replacement or snack.</i></b><br />

3. <u>Low Carb Green Smoothie</u><br />
2 cups Spinach/Kale/Swiss Chard<br />
1/4 - 1/2 cup Old-Fashioned rolled oats<br />
1 serving Low Carb protein powder (I'm currently using Cellucor Cor-Performance why in Whipped Vanilla).<br />
1 tablespoon Chia seeds<br />
1 tablespoon MCT oil (or other fat or choice e.g Almond Butter or an Avocado)<br />
1 - 1.5 cups Unsweetened Almond milk (for more calories use Coconut Milk)<br />

<b><i>Note: This has no fruits and is great for people watching their sugar intake (My personal fave)</i></b><br />

4. <u>Post-Workout Recovery Green Smoothie</u><br />
1 cup Spinach/Kale<br />
1 - 1.5 cups Coconut Water (no added sugars)<br />
1/2 - 1 frozen Banana<br />
1 teaspoon Chia seeds<br />

OK, i'm BACK! After our challenge ended, I did gain some weight back. I have now started implementing holistic approaches to help me lose fat (not necessarily weight, there's a difference!). I'm working on my sleep, stress and diet. While my weight on the scale hasn't changed much, I have seen inches lost all over my body. In April, I will do a green smoothie challenge!<br />

I really dont want to keep track of weight loss this season because I'm not really doing anything. I'm participating in the RCCG fast, and as such I dont have the energy for intense workouts at all. I guess its because I eat 1.5 times a day that my weight has been slowly falling off, but I am not eating "clean" foods per se.<br />
I eat my rice, and swallows, because I need the energy from those carbs to fuel me during the day.<br />
<br />
so I'm down roughly another 10 Ibs this month, I guess fasting and prayer really works!<br />
